The series of experiments in this project represents my first encounter with algorithmic art, although my full appreciation of the simple but general concept of algorithms had to wait until college. I realized that mathematical systems with seemingly simple definitions could produce complex symmetrical or recursive patterns when visualized through algorithms and that slightly different inputs to the same algorithm can sometimes produce drastically different patterns. If asked why those patterns, looking back, I'd say because they appear to me either surprisingly natural (L-system fractals) or exotic (Mandelbrot and Julia sets) and made me curious to practice making more of them.
